Community Guidelines

Chatrandom puts two strangers on camera in seconds. That only stays fun if everyone follows a short set of rules. These guidelines apply in every room, every match, no exceptions — and breaking them has real consequences.

1The one-sentence version

Treat the person on the other side of the camera the way you would want a stranger to treat you. Everything below is just that sentence with the details filled in.

These guidelines sit alongside the terms of service: the terms are the legal frame, this page is the practical one — what actually gets a room closed and an account removed.

2What is welcome

  • Conversation, flirting, laughter, language practice, boredom cures — the reasons people come here.
  • Skipping politely. Nobody owes anybody a longer chat than they want.
  • Reporting bad behavior. Every report makes the next match better for everyone.

3What is not allowed

  • Minors on camera — as a participant, in the background, or claimed as an identity. Chatrandom is 18+ without exceptions.
  • Nudity or sexual acts directed at someone who has not clearly welcomed them.
  • Harassment, threats, slurs, or targeting someone over race, religion, gender or orientation.
  • Recording, photographing or streaming another user without their consent.
  • Scams of any kind: asking for money, gift cards, off-platform payment, or promoting outside services.
  • Pre-recorded or looped video passed off as a live camera.
  • Illegal activity of any sort, including showing it on camera.

4How enforcement works

Every room carries a report button. Reports go to human moderators who can watch the flagged session signals — never the call content itself, which we do not record — plus account history. A first minor offense usually earns a warning; severe or repeated behavior earns a permanent ban, and illegal content is escalated to the authorities where the law requires it.

False reporting is itself a violation. Mass-reporting someone because you disliked the conversation wastes moderator time and slows down real cases.

5If someone breaks the rules on you

Skip first — you are never trapped in a room. Then report, so the next person does not meet the same behavior. If something genuinely threatening happened, email [email protected] with the time and any details you have and the team will investigate.

You also control your own exposure at every moment: the camera turns off when you turn it off, the tab closes when you close it, and no match can follow you into the next room unless you both choose to stay.

6What moderators actually see

Moderation runs on session signals and report context — match timing, account history, device fingerprints tied to abuse — never on stored call footage, because none exists. When several independent reports point at the same account, the pattern alone is usually enough to act on.

7Why we are strict

Random video chat has a reputation problem, earned by sites that moderated nothing. We would rather lose users who break the rules than lose the people they would have driven away. A cleaner queue is the whole product.
